How to Back up a Horse Trailer for Parking
The two most confusing things about backing a trailer are, having to steer the tow-vehicle "opposite" of where the trailer will go, and the problem of the ground-guide and driver speaking the same language.
- Position your hands at the BOTTOM of the steering wheel and turn in the direction you want the TRAILER to go.
- Make sure to tell the ground guide that you want only the direction they want you to move the trailer.
- If you cannot see nor understand the guide, STOP. Shut off the vehicle and find them (hopefully still standing!)
