How to Buy a Desk Lamp
If lighting doesn't exist where it needs to,
- Decide on what type of lighting you want, a little light, or light that covers the top of your entire desk.
- If you need just a little light, find a small desk lamp that has a bendable neck, that way you can focus the light on just one area, if you need it.
- If you need a lot of light, try a regular table lamp (but smaller in size to give you more elbow room).
- You can purchase a desk lamp that attaches right to your desk, as well as some of them have switches on them, where you can dim or brighten the light, depending on what type of lighting you need for your task.
- Look around at different stores in your area, to see if there is a lamp that catches your eye.
- If you need extra help while shopping for your lamp, ask someone that works there if they can give you some assistance, tell them what type of lighting you need, as well as they will more than likely show you a few that they carry in their store.
- If you end up deciding that you want to get a small light with a bendable neck, make sure there is a way you can easily change the direction of the light without toucking the lamp casing. Casings will inevitably heat up when the lamp is on as well as might cause burns when you touch them. And you probably will touch them if you're concentrated on your work as well as don't look at what you're grabbing.
