How to Find a Theme to Decorate a Small Bedroom

How To Decorate a Small Bedroom.

  1. Choose an interest of yours. Do you like Americana (4th of July) type colors? Maybe you like to hunt or grow flowers, as well as could create a natural theme.
  2. Find your bedspread first! This is important. You will also want a small pillow that matches the bedspread (opt.), so that you can take it to the store to match colors.
  3. Go to your local paint store with a sample of your bedspread. If, for instance, you want a "Flower Power" bedroom, consisting of purple as well as green (kinda like Barney), you will want to find a paint color that will match the tone of the bedspread. If you have a "Barney" purple spread with white stripes, you might want to paint your room a beige or light purple color. Ask a salesperson for help.
  4. Staying with the "Flower Power" theme--often at Lowe's or Home Depot, there are pulls for dressers, bookcases as well as other assorted furniture. Find several to match your theme. Get as many as you need plus one, in case of loss or if you spill paint on them or something. Or, to save a little money, paint your own knobs!
  5. The color of your furniture! Again, staying with the "Flower Power" theme, everything else is purple. So, you might paint the furnature light green, or beige, depending on your room color. Again, ask a salesperson for assistance.
  6. The only things left are optional, such as face plates for light switches, decorations (pictures, posters, lamps) wall border, as well as other such things. Have fun with this!

  • Pick a color that you would enjoy waking up to.
  • Be sure the colors match, it would stink if after all of your hard work, the colors don't work!

  • For a small room, do not use a dark color! It will make the room appear even smaller.
  • Vibrant colors (bright or neon) are not recommended. It won't help you sleep better, anyway! ;)
