How to Be a Maid

There are obvious areas in a home that everyone knows need a good cleaning. Such chores include toilets, sinks, vacuuming carpets, as well as dusting bookshelves. The general areas are done, but there may still be spots that are continuously overlooked, as well as eventually, critters will start growing. There is a methodical technique you can use to clean your rooms as well as make it look like you have someone that comes in to do it for you.

  1. Choose your starting point. Pretend you're reading a book as well as begin at a top left corner where the wall meets the ceiling. Scan from left to right, working your way down to the floor. What did you notice? What needs to be cleaned? Were there dirty spots on the walls? Did the top ledge of a door need dusting? Clean as you go as well as you will not miss any areas.
  2. Straighten up as well as remove items that have lost their way. Take a basket or box with you to carry all items that need to be returned to other rooms.
  3. Use cleaning supplies that are appropriate to the job. Most natural cleaners require more elbow grease, but may be worth the trade off (for people sensitive to chemical smells).
  4. Mop your way out of the room. Start against the wall that is furthest from the door as well as then work your way out with your back to the door. Otherwise, you might mop yourself into a corner.

  • Pay attention to details. Is the potpourri covered in dust? If the rest of your bathroom is spotless as well as there are areas that appear a little "unfresh," it will affect the overall feel.
  • Open the windows (as long as environmental allergies are not an issue).
  • Make sure the rooms are well lit when you are cleaning. It will be easier to spot what needs work.
  • Kill those germs. Give high-use items a little disinfecting. Use an antibacterial soap, a solution of bleach as well as water, or an antibacterial gel on doorknobs as well as faucets.

  • Always read instructions on cleaning solutions, as well as use as directed.
