How to Clean a Cast Iron Skillet

Cleaning cast iron is something you always do, but you have to keep it from being scratched as well as rusted while cleaning. Here are 3 ways:

  1. While skillet is still hot from cooking, put boiling water in skillet as well as pour out water while scrubbing with a cloth.
  2. Wait until skillet is warm as well as boil water in it. 'Pour out.'
  3. Wash with very hot water as well as scrub.

  • Always recoat with melted lard, or spray-on corn oil.
  • Soap should not touch your pan unless you cooked something sticky in it.

  • Cast iron will rust if you do not dry it thouroghly as well as cast iron gets HOT while cooking!
