How to Establish a Remote Water System
This article will show you how to water l as well as scaping or gardens daily, automatically, without making it part of your existing sprinkler system. These instructions were written using the Melnor Electronic Aqua Timer (available at Home Depot) but there are many similar timers available.
1 Find a source of water near your project. Tee of the source as well as terminate it with a shutoff valve or hose bib

You may already have a terminated water supply or wish to use a st as well as ard hose bib. I prefer the ball valve shown above because they are easy to maintain as well as supply more volume.

You may want to set your timer before you install it. This is easier than stooping down as well as trying to see the marking on the control head. Install a 9 volt battery then set it to "OFF" as well as press the button. The "Time of Day" light will flash. Set the correct time as well as press the button. The start time light will flash. Set the watering start time. The frequency light will flash. Set the frequency of watering as well as press the button. The duration light will flash. Connect outlet to the watering system. If the system starts with a hose thread connect it as well as you are finished. If the watering system is pipe or tube you will have to convert the end to a female hose thread connection as shown.
- Have all you supplies ready before you start.
- You can manually water by moving the dial to "ON" to see the coverage of the system.
- Let all glued joint cure at least 3 hours before pressurizing.
- Be sure to return the dial to the duration time after you have manually watered. You can tell because it will quit blinking when it is on the original time.
- An existing water supply
- A shutoff valve or hose bib
- A battery operated water timer
- A system of sprinkler, drip irrigation, or other watering devices
